Treatment with me

An acupuncture treatment session with me will be for about 40 to 60 minutes. The first part of the treatment will include a diagnostic interview with patients on how they want my treatment to help their conditions and their concerns on emotions and health, or how they feel after previous treatments. Then, I will start to insert from 2 to 20 very small and fine sterilised needles into acupuncture points in different areas of the body. Most patients report

a feeling of `peace’ and `calm’ and a general relaxation during the treatment.

I try to help my patients understand the nature of their illness and how to take care of their health. In my treatments, I want my patients to

• build their confidence so that they can maintain and take care of their
health.

• Develop skills and techniques to better manage stress and emotions

Does acupuncture treatment hurt?

Patients do not usually experience pain from inserting needles. This is because the size of an acupuncture needle is only a fraction of the size of injection needles.

Generally, I apply from 2 to 20 very fine sterilised needles on a patient in a treatment. The number of needles depends on the conditions of different patients. Some patients may feel a slight tingling to a numbness or achiness sensation from inserted acupuncture needles. There is rarely any blood because the needles are very small and fine.

How many treatments are required to get better?

Usually, there are five treatments in a block. Most people require one to two blocks of treatments to resolve their health problems. Generally, the first five treatments would be weekly based and then to one on every other week when a patient has experienced an increasing amount of relief.
